Our wonderful, community minded litter picking and beach cleaning volunteers group met this Saturday morning and respectfully laid flowers and held a minutes silence to commemorate the tragic loss of two young brothers, Muhammad and Ali Shabbir, to the sea at St Anne’s. The group heard a reflection on life lead by Tracey Hope and they sent their most sincere thoughts to the family and friend of the boys from Dewsbury.
This group of volunteers meet each week to help keep our super beaches clean and tidy. Tracey has shared this message as this family-friendly group are always ready to welcome new helpers.
Next Saturday (29th August) there are just two starting points, LYTHAM RLNI with Lynne Sandham and ST ANNES RLNI with Tracey Hope. As normal life has resumed – well, at least to the new ‘normal’ – attendance has slowly fallen on the litter picks and we’re also short of Coordinators. Thus, the starting points of Starr Gate, St Anne’s Pier and Fairhaven Lake are no longer included. Minion Dave will be back though, 5th Sep, at North Beach Car Park. There’ll be a coordinator in a High-Viz vest at each starting point to welcome you and answer any questions, before setting off at 10:30am sharp. Please remember to bring bags and gloves, or grabbers / litter pickers if you have them. Please check the weather forecast and dress appropriately. If it’s windy, wearing a face covering or scarf is recommended to protect your face from blowing sand. More details are available here: https://www.facebook.com/events/340377550702702/
