Amid the job losses in the music and entertainment sector, Blackpool tower issues a red alert reading “HELP”, in order to save he music industry.
More than 300 venues joined the tower in an attempt to raise awareness for the thread to jobs nationwide.
Local Photographer Karl Houghton, who’s work we regularly feature on Lytham St Annes News, captured the plea from above with his drone.
The image captures Blackpool’s famous landmark with the word HELP spelled out bellow in red letters.
After festivals of 2020, including Lytham Festival, were all cancelled in an attempt to stop the spread of Covid-19, it is not looking hopeful for the music industry this year.
Blackpool’s annual event, The Big Switch On, has been made virtual in an attempt to continue ticket sales. Every year musicians and stars come to Blackpool to perform for thousands of tourists and locals. Artists such as Bastille, Britney Spears, and Mcfly, have all featured in previous shows.
We are all hoping that we can resume ‘normal life’ in 2021, with the events and activities we have all missed.
