Local Police Constables Trained To Act On Rural and Wildlife Crime

This week Police Constable Tom Higgs, from our Lytham St. Anne’s Policing Team, joined his colleagues, PC Sarah Roberts and PC Alex Chapman from the Kirkham and Rural Fylde Team, on a training course focused upon wildlife and rural crime.

Some of the topics the course covered included raptor persecution, badger baiting, poaching, hare coursing, agricultural and construction plant theft, management of fisheries, agricultural biosecurity and crime involving endangered species.

Speakers from organisations including the RSPCA, National Wildlife Crime Unit, BASC, Environment Agency, Badger Trust, RSPB, Bat Conservation Society and the National Gamekeepers Organisation shared their expert knowledge.

These local officers, together with their colleagues, are committed to supporting our rural communities.

They ask if you see something that doesn’t look right and could be a crime, report it. You can report incidents online or via 101, or for a crime in progress call 999.
