Lockdown 2.0. A round of applause please for bar and restaurant workers everywhere – local bar owner suggests a mark of respect.

Local bar owner Kye, from Jazz Emporium, Wood Street St Anne’s, asks us not to forget what a turbulent year the hospitality trade has had, and all those that work within it.

If you happen to be in the pub at the final ring of the bell this Wednesday evening, stand up and give the staff a round of applause 👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼 👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼

They’re probably anxious, heartbroken and could very well be having to apply for benefits the very next day.

They’ve all worked their a**es off during ‘Eat Out to Help Out’ and were then partially blamed for the increase in COVID-19 cases.

They’ve followed the strictest ever changing and often unclear guidelines which has often led to them being verbally abused by customers, just for trying to keep people safe.

Now they are being told told to stay at home with only a percentage of their normal wage. They still have bills to pay and Christmas is just around the corner.

Owners have seen their businesses take a nose dive and staff have had their hours cut. Many businesses in the hospitality industry will not survive lockdown 2.0 😑

Respect to all business owners and staff in the hospitality industry ❤
