As well as running the story, press outlets contacted Fylde Council for their take on the issue. A spokesperson for Fylde Council said: ‘The protocol for requesting the closure of a road for a coronation street party was correctly followed by the residents. As part of the closure, the lead person for the organisation of the street closure is asked to inform all residents of the closure prior to the day and would have been able to request that vehicles be moved if this was deemed necessary. Fylde Council had no involvement in this communication.’

It was reported by the USA Times Post that Lancashire Police declined to add after being approached because a PCSO officer was pictured posing next to the car.
