Yesterday evening (Saturday 15th July) a fire broke out at a property on Alexandra Drive in Lytham St. Anne’s. Local hero Barry Walford’ believing an elderly woman was inside’ kicked open the front door, entered the smoke-filled house and rescued the woman who was sleeping in bed upstairs. He then re-entered the house to save the lady’s pet dog Bobby before the emergency services arrived.
At 7.26 p.m. three fire engines from St Anne’s and South Shore attended the domestic building fire. The firefighters used two breathing apparatus and one hose reel to extinguish the fire. Lancashire Fire and Rescue Service say that one casualty was conveyed to the hospital by ambulance. Crews were in attendance for an hour and fifteen minutes.
