Lytham St. Anne’s Town Crier is coming out of retirement later today (Sunday 26th July) to shout out all the amazing bargains and offers at a specially set up site on Park Road in St. Anne’s. Together with colleagues from the St Anne’s Enterprise Partnership, Colin Ballard – who was Town Crier for seven years until his retirement in March, 2019 – will bid to boost local footfall as the businesses and traders emerge from lockdown.

Not only will The Town Crier be on hand to enlighten and inform visitors, but also there will be entertainment and raffles and lots of surprises. Colin said, ‘We want to encourage residents not just to pop into town for one or two items, but to have a good look at what their town has to offer!’
It will be wonderful to see Colin again as during his tenure as Town Crier he was a popular figure for residents and visitors alike, appearing not only in the streets of our local area but also at a wide range of events such as the Switch-On of Christmas Lights, Mayors’ Balls, Britain in Bloom competition judging, The Olympic Torch Ceremony, The Queen’s Diamond Jubilee Celebrations, Club Days and Carnival Days. Colin’s impressive Town Crier outfit was skilfully designed & created by Lynda Ormerod, a seamstress and costumier based in Lytham.
