Lytham St. Anne’s is set to be battered by thunderstorms and heavy rain tomorrow (Sunday 10th September) as the Met Office has issued a ten hour warning. This yellow weather warning means thunderstorms and heavy showers are expected from 2 p.m. until midnight on Sunday.
These storms (see forecast map below) follow a September heatwave with Lytham St. Anne’s baking in an unprecedented spell of early autumn heat.
A spokesperson for the Met Office warned, ‘Embedded intense rainfall may bring some very large rainfall totals with 30-50 mm in an hour or less possible and perhaps 70 mm or more in a few hours for unlucky locations. At the same time frequent lightning and large hail will be additional hazards.’
