Man assaulted outside Atlas Takeaway in St Annes, Police appeal to locals for information

Detectives on the Fylde Coast are currently investigating a suspected assault in St Annes. A man was found laying on the floor, unconscious with head injuries, outside Atlas Takeaway on St David’s Road South.

Police were called by the ambulance service shortly after 10pm on Saturday to attend the incident.

He was taken to Blackpool Victoria Hospital for treatment but later left and was subsequently found by a member of the public at about 3am on Sunday morning near a petrol station on Talbot Road in Blackpool.

Fylde Police enquiries suggest that the victim, a man in his 50s, was attacked by two men who got out of a black car and assaulted him close to the takeaway.

An investigation is ongoing to find the attackers and detectives are appealing to locals for witnesses of the attack.

Detective Inspector Abi Finch-Hall, of West CID, said: “This assault has left a man with some very serious injuries and I would appeal to anyone who saw what happened outside the takeaway or who has any information to contact us so we can identify and trace those responsible.

“I would also like to speak to anyone who saw the victim after he left the hospital and before he was subsequently found collapsed on Talbot Road. The victim is a white male. He was wearing a grey vest with white writing on, underneath a black tracksuit top. He was also wearing black/khaki tracksuit pants.

“Even if you have some information but think it isn’t of any importance please do come and speak to us and let us be the judge.”

Anyone with information should contact police on 101 quoting log 1492 of December 12th or independent charity Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111
