Man In Serious Condition After Trying To Stop Violent Masked Blackpool Burglars

Blackpool Police are appealing for witnesses and footage following an aggravated burglary and a wounding in Blackpool. This occurred at around 6.25 p.m. on Tuesday 12th March. Two masked men wearing black, one armed with a bladed weapon, forced their way into a property on Annan Crescent (a section of Annan Crescent is shown in the featured photograph). The female occupant of the property suffered a slash injury to her hand from the knife.

A member of the public attempted to stop the suspects from escaping, but ended up hanging out of the getaway vehicle before he fell into a parked vehicle, sustaining serious injuries. He is currently stable in hospital.

Blackpool Police have released this statement:

‘We are appealing for witnesses and footage following an aggravated burglary and a wounding in Blackpool.

At 6.25 p.m. on Tuesday we were called to a property in Annan Crescent following a report that two masked men wearing all black had forced their way into a property. One of the men was armed with a knife.

The occupant – a woman in her 50s – suffered a slash injury to the hand. That injury is not life-threatening.

A member of the public attempted to stop the suspects from escaping and ended up hanging out of the getaway vehicle – believed to be an SUV-type vehicle – before falling into a parked vehicle.

He was taken to hospital where he remains in a serious but stable condition.

The first suspect is described as being 5ft 3ins and of a wide build. The second is described as being 5ft 10 and slim.

As part of our ongoing enquiries, a 47-year-old woman from Blackpool was arrested on suspicion of assault occasioning actual bodily harm. She has since been released on conditional bail.

Work is ongoing to identify and arrest the two male suspects.

That is why we are asking for any witnesses or anyone with mobile phone, dashcam or CCTV footage which covers Annan Crescent and surrounding areas and has captured anything suspicious between 6 p.m. and 7 p.m. on Tuesday to make contact with us.”
