Motorists have been advised to exercise extreme caution on the junction of Beach Road and Clifton Drive North in St Annes as a large sink hole has appeared and has now filled with water due to the intense heavy rainfall.

A local resident has told Lytham St Annes News “I was driving my Ford Focus down Beach Road and assumed it was just a puddle, however my car made an almighty bang.  The sink hole is very deceptive as it as a lot deeper than it looks.”

He also added “The water is more like a pond than a puddle”.
