MP Menzies Says ‘It’s Not Good Enough’ – ‘We Need Improvements Not Excuses’

Fylde MP Mark Menzies has noted and remarked on the state of the roads here on the Fylde.  Commenting on the condition of Links Gate, he said that Lancashire County Councils own team admit that the road is ‘scabby’.

The Tory MP has shared his thoughts, saying, ‘Too many Fylde roads, like Links Gate, are in poor condition and desperately in need of repair and renewal. Patching just is not enough. Lancashire County Council’s own team admit the road here, serving homes, a school and a world class major championship golf course is ‘scabby’. It is not good enough, a message I have put across loud and clear to highways managers. We need improvements not excuses.’

Others have questioned the priorities in the need for road repairs.

Owen Ronald Houghton said, ‘That road is mainly used by residents. It’s basically a back street that no one uses and not in that bad a state. All it need is the cheap surface dressing. There are loads of road around Fylde that need more work doing which are a higher priority.  St.Thomas’ which is literally a 2 minute walk from there which is in a right mess needs resurfacing urgently.’

Glenn Myerscough replied, ‘That road looks like brand new compared to ours. I live on Balmoral, everyone on the street is complaining, they have been for years!’ Nick Moore added, ‘That looks pristine compared to the southern end of Peel Road!’

Stuart Giblin says his car has sustained damage because of the state of the road, ‘I’m on Agnew and have a car with snapped coil springs because of the state of the road and had to take it off the road as I can’t afford the costs.’

  1. Look at Smithy lane and main roads and main rat runs need resurfacing not like Links gate, that road should be unmade and look Countryfied so none residents wouldn’t use it,after all it’s only used by residents and dog walkers so come on Mark get your job done properly and have a drive around I’ve lived in St Annes since 1943 so if you want some advice on what needs to be done then look no further!

  2. Mr Houghton is wrong. Links Gate is used by many; certainly not just residents. His comment smacks of nastiness and is totally uncalled for.
