Lytham to SHUTDOWN at 9pm on New Years Eve!

Bars and restaurants offering takeaway service for food and alcoholic beverages have been requested to close at 9pm by the Council to discourage gatherings congregating in the square on New Year’s Eve.

This is after huge crowds have been gathering in the run up to Christmas and concerns over the lack of social distancing and the coronavirus pandemic continues.

This decision has created great disappointment in the community.

The official statement from the Council is “An arrangement has been made with all the licensed venues offering ‘off sales’ that no one will serve alcohol after 9pm on New Year’s Eve, New Year’s Day and Saturday January 2nd, there will also be COVID marshals on duty and police support to advise, monitor and enforce the regulations.”
