Residents of Pollux Gate have contacted Lytham St Annes news with their concerns over the invasion of feral pigeons on their road.
One resident said, “We have a persistent problem with these flying rats, I can no longer safely put my washing out without fears of the birds’ excrement splattering it. There are literally thousands down our road now. I believe one of our neighbours is feeding the pests. I also worry that these birds are carrying diseases which is especially worrying with the Covid-19 crisis”.
Another resident, Anne Scanes, had put a request out asking if anyone knows a hawk person to get rid of the pigeons. She also said, “There are loads of them and they are such a health hazard. The council don’t want to know”.
However James, who lives also on Pollux Gate, added, “Although they have become a nuisance they are god’s creatures and they have as just much right to live here as we do. I think with lockdown the birds have bred and that’s why there are more”.
