Police appeal for man and woman in connection with an assault.

It occurred earlier this year in January.

From Blackpool Police – We are appealing for information to help identify this man and woman in connection with an assault in Blackpool, 29th January 2021.

Around 7.45am on January 29, a man was stood outside the entrance to Gorton Street Hostel in Gorton Street when he was punched in the face.

The man, aged in his 40s, did not report the incident to police and was sadly later found dead in his hostel room in the early hours of January 30.

CCTV enquiries following the man’s death revealed the assault.

A Home Office post mortem later confirmed the assault did not contribute to the man’s death and his death is not being treated as suspicious.

Detectives are keen to identify the man and woman involved as part of their enquiries.

Det Con Adam Weaver, of Blackpool CID, said: “We are keen to identify these two individuals and I believe someone will know who they are.

“An inquest for the man’s death is pending and his family have asked for every effort to be made to find the attackers as part of the coronial process.

“I must stress, this attack did not lead to the man’s death.

“If you recognise the man and woman pictured please come forward.”
