Prolific thief Augustus Coverdale (pictured) has been jailed for offences across the country, including the theft on 3rd March 2026 of an Ifor Williams trailer from Mill Farm Wesham.

Fylde Rural Task Force carried out CCTV enquiries which identified the trailer had been stolen by Coverdale in a Ford Transit on cloned registration plates. The thief had forced entry to the compound gates and hooked the trailer up to his van before driving off.

ANPR data revealed the van had travelled all over the country on multiple sets of cloned plates.

Fylde Police circulated details about the vehicle which was stopped by Nottinghamshire Police.

Coverdale was arrested and dealt with for multiple offences including theft, using fraudulent plates and several driving offences. He was also wanted for numerous other theft offences across the country.

Coverdale’s mobile phone was seized which revealed almost immediately after the trailer was stolen he was advertising it for sale, taking videos and photographs of it at Botany Bay, Chorley.

He was charged for multiple offences and remanded to prison.

Coverdale has been sentenced to 20 weeks in prison as well as being disqualified from driving for 32 weeks.
