The Met Office is forecasting severe weather on Wednesday 28th July and Thursday, 29th July with warnings in place for heavy rain and thunderstorms across vast swathes of the UK.
Deluges are expected across much of the UK as the Met Office ramped up its storm warnings to amber with as much as 80mm of rain set to fall.
As a consequence, the Met Office has issued yellow weather warnings for much of Northern England and Wales, and an amber weather warning for Scotland
Met Office chief meteorologist Steve Willington said: ‘Yellow warnings are in place across much of the UK, away from the south, for thunderstorms and heavy rain over the coming days. The rainfall could lead to some surface water flooding and disruption before it eases and moves south through Thursday.’
