St Annes Kite Festival

Saturday 12th September and Sunday 13th September are two special dates for your new 2020 diaries. This late Summer weekend has been set for the spectacular 9th St Annes International Kite Festival. Sadly, last year’s event, scheduled for August 2019, had to be postponed due to a severe weather forecast which would have made kite flying both difficult and hazardous. It was hastily rearranged for September, 2019 – but many international visitors could not make the journey as they had preceding engagements. Nevertheless, the festival was a success, with an estimated 75,000 visitors to the free event. This was once again a welcome boost for hoteliers, traders and local businesses.
Organisers hope that the forthcoming 2020 festival will be bigger and better than ever, with a spectacular pre-festival night flight on Friday 11th September being proposed as an added bonus. International interest is already high – in the past teams and participants from New Zealand, Kuwait and countries throughout Europe have been welcomed. This year the target is to attract 100,000 visitors to the St Annes seafront for this vibrant, colourful end of Summer extravaganza.
