Sky’s ‘Westminster Accounts’ Reveal Mark Menzies & Scott Benton Direct Financial Interests

MPs are required to report both their own direct financial interests and any donations or other payments that are received by their local constituency party to support their work or election. These interests and donations have now been revealed by Sky in their on-line ‘Westminster Diaries’.

Like their colleagues in the House of Commons, both MP Menzies and MP Benton are required by law to report certain financial interests to the Parliamentary Commissioner for Standards, whose office publishes a register of all MPs’ interests every fortnight.

Sky’s Westminster Accounts have revealed that since the beginning of the current Parliament at the end of 2019, Fylde MP Mark Menzies has declared 15 financial interests. He has declared donations, earnings, gifts and other benefits worth approximately £31,000 since 19 December 2019, including £10,000 in gifts or benefits from Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Qatar

  1. The fact that there is any mention of Qatar in the lists is pretty disgusting.

The simple truth is that a large proportion of our MPs treat their Parliamentary obligations as their 2nd source of income anyway i.e. 2nd job.

It’s been that way for a very long time and they are not going to let us change it or clean it up themselves (turkeys and Xmas?) so no point in whinging on about it, is there?
