The residents and traders of St Anne’s are up in arms and furious over the treatment and handling of the St Annes Christmas lights switch on. The “switch on” is being advertised on Friday 29th November 2019 with Show Choir, Heyhouses school kids, Cinderella cast and Kids’ entertainer Taz hosting the event. The timing of this event is controversial as it’s being advertised from 3pm – 6pm.
The traders are furious due to the timing, according to one shop keeper having the light switch on at this time is pointless because most people are working at this time with the exception of the elderly, and most children are in after school club so cannot enjoy the festivities.
One unhappy resident told Lytham St Annes news that she would be unable to attend as she commutes to work from Preston, so by the time she had collected her children the switch one would be over. The resident also told us that she feels that “Lytham gets so much better treatment than St Annes, their event was on a Saturday and they had everything and there was a huge crowd”. She also added “Even the poster we got given to us was embarrassing, you couldn’t even read it!
