St Anne’s Fire Fighters Called To Blackpool Promenade Blaze

Firefighters from seven fire stations were called upon to fight a major blaze at the derelict New Hacketts Hotel on Queen’s Promenade, Blackpool, in the early hours of this morning (Sunday 12th March).

St Anne’s based fire engines joined Blackpool, Bispham, South Shore, Fleetwood and Fulwood emergency services, along with an aerial ladder platform from Morecambe. to fight the blaze which started in one of Blackpool’s derelict hotels.

Lancashire Fire and Rescue said that its drone team was in attendance and appealed to sight-seers  not to fly their own drones near to the scene so they would not obstruct their emergency operation.

The Promenade was closed from Empress Drive to Gynn Roundabout for several hours, with diversions in place on Warbreck Hill Road. The road is now open.
