Take Care! Slippery surfaces as snow, rain and sleet set to hit Lytham St. Anne’s later tomorrow as Met Office issues new weather warning.

A weather warning for icy surfaces has been issued by the Met Office with rain, snow and sleet predicted to fall in Lancashire this week.

The warning, which is in place from 5.00 pm tomorrow. 7th January until 11.00 am on Friday, 8th January covers all of Lancashire. The forecast says that wintry showers will fall onto already frozen surfaces resulting in slippery conditions for pedestrians, cyclists and motorists, with a possible disruption to travel.

The Met Office says that from tomorrow at 5.00 p.m.: ‘Showers, a mixture of rain sleet and snow, are expected to fall onto frozen surfaces leading to icy stretches forming.’

This warning comes as slips and falls due to icy conditions in the North West have resulted in more than 150 calls to the North West Ambulance Service (NWAS) during the last week (December 28th until January 4th).
