The St. Anne’s Five Day September Spectacular Hailed A Spectacular Success

The Five Day St Anne’s September Spectacular has been hailed as a spectacular success on its debut, attracting thousands of people to the beautiful Ashton Gardens. The well-supported family event featured a wealth of music, activities, stalls with a Big Top becoming the venue for hosting a wealth of much appreciated performances. It was the biggest ever organised by St Anne’s Town Council – and was put together in just seven weeks. The local community also helped by ensuring that the lovely Ashton Gardens were kept clean and tidy by litter picking –even well after the entertainment has finished.

Council Chairman Gavin Harrison and his wife Karen, who headed the Town Council’s organising Community and Neighbourhood (CAN) team, were delighted with the response from the public.

They said, ‘The September Spectacular was very well received by the community. We lost count of the number of people who have thanked us for staging the event. There was a real party atmosphere in the Gardens and it was fantastic to see groups of friends and families coming out, meeting up and having a great time. One of the best aspects was that so many people took responsibility for keeping Ashton Gardens tidy – we even had people staying behind to help with litter picking after the headline acts finished so we were able to leave the area tidy and ready for the next day.

They continued, ‘It was heart-warming to see so many of our local community groups supporting the event. The CAN team of the Town Council were given a Covid Recovery Grant from the Government via Fylde Council and from confirmation of the funding in July, they had to plan the whole event, confirm the venue, book the acts and stallholders, get the infrastructure in place and tell the community all about it. We are sure everyone will agree that this was an incredible achievement – the biggest event the Town Council has staged and the whole thing was created in just seven weeks. We’ve used the word ‘community’ a lot – but that’s exactly what this was about: a community coming together, working together and having a great time together.’

Darrel Tepo (whose photos are shared below) said, ‘A Thankyou from St. Anne’s Town Council and our working group ‘Community & Neighbourhood (CAN) to our Stage, Lighting, Compare and many other jobs contractor for the September Spectacular. The Little Stage Company, Mark, Phil and (special guest Simon). It’s all the hours before and after events like this that goes unnoticed, rigging, de-rigging……….’ Ian Brown replied, ‘I for one appreciate all the initial prep needed before any event. Marquee, sound, lighting, set lists etc. This year’s event was superb due to the fact that indoor seating was provided and rain couldn’t stop play. Congratulations to all involved!’

And those who attended spoke most positively and enthusiastically about the event.  Fly Curran said, ‘Had a fantastic afternoon and evening there on Saturday. Thai street food, great coffee, various music, a gong bath and well-being talks. A really lovely atmosphere. Well done to all the organisers.’ Whilst Ayten Nightingale said, ‘It was brilliant and packed. The combination of Art, craft, music, Yoga, meditation, fun fair and live music. It forefills our well-being. Amazing achievement.’
