Squire of Lytham

Tributes have been paid to the late Squire of Lytham, James Hilton, who has passed away aged 90.

Hilton was famous locally for his passion for Lytham. He was an active member of the Lytham St Annes Civic Society, with this role he was a great conservationist and supported initiatives which helped care for Lytahm.

The Chairman of the Lytham St Annes Civic Society described him as a ‘great supporter of the Civic Society’ and stated ‘He took his responsibilities as Lord of the Manor seriously and did his best to support initiatives which helped to care for our town. He funded the Town Criers and was always keen on heritage and tradition’.

His title of Squire of Lytham has been taken by Hilton’s grandson Hugo Bryan.
