Two Teenagers Arrested Following Attack On 89 Year Old Man In St Anne’s Aldi Car Park

 

Two boys, both aged 14 years of age, have been arrested following an attack on an 89-year-old man in St Anne’s yesterday morning (Thursday, February 25).

The 89 year old man suffered a broken hip following the attack which occurred at 8.10 a.m. outside the Aldi Store. He was taken to hospital by ambulance. It has been reported that the pensioner remains in hospital today (Friday, February 26).

Police say the two boys, both from St. Anne’s, have been arrested on suspicion of Grievous Bodily Harm (GBH) and remain in custody.

A Police Spokesperson said, ‘We are aware of concerns on social media regarding an assault in St Anne’s and just wanted to update you on the latest developments. We were called just before 8.10am to a report that an 89-year-old man had been assaulted in the Aldi car park in Clifton Drive. He has been taken to hospital for treatment on a suspected fractured hip. Following swift enquiries officers identified two suspects who have since been arrested on suspicion of GBH. The two boys – aged 14 and 14 who are both from St Anne’s – are currently in custody.’

Lancashire Police are asking anyone with information that might help their investigation to contact them, calling 101 and quoting log 0244 of February 25, 2021.
