Will A Tornado Hit Lytham St.Anne’s?

The Tornado and Storm Research Organisation (TSRO) has forecast a tornado to hit Lancashire and other parts of the United Kingdom on Sunday night (June 25).

The TSRO has warned there could be damaging wind gusts to 60 m.p.h. and our region could be hit by ‘a couple of tornados’, hailed to 30-40mm diameter.

The organisation announced: “A cold front will move eastwards this afternoon, with strong shear and instability ahead of it. Shear will be sufficient for clusters of thunderstorms and perhaps supercells, capable of large hail, damaging winds, and a perhaps a couple of tornadoes.

There is still some uncertainty over the overall morphology and tornado risk, especially as cloud bases are relatively high. However, the overall situation appears to be one which warrants a tornado risk over a severe thunderstorm risk.’
