Are you ready to wear a face mask when shopping in Lytham St Anne’s in the near future? This afternoon, The Prime Minister, Boris Johnson, has been seen wearing a face mask for the first time in his Uxbridge constituency, and this follows his explicit hints that the coverings would be made compulsory in shops in England.
Speaking earlier during an online question and answer session with members of the public, Boris said that ‘the balance of scientific opinion seemed to have shifted’ over how effective masks can be. ‘I do think we need to be stricter in insisting people wear face coverings in confined spaces where they are meeting people they don’t normally meet,’ Mr Johnson said. ‘We are looking at ways of making sure that people really do have face coverings in shops, for instance, where there is a risk of transmission.’
This would put England in line with Scotland – where coverings became compulsory in shops from today.
