Woman Arrested For Drink Driving Following Fylde Accident This Morning

Three people are in hospital and one person has been arrested after a major Fylde crash. The accident caused long delays in this morning following the accident on Fleetwood Road at the Windy Harbour junction near the Shell Garage and Starbucks.  Police and paramedics were called to the scene at 6.45 a.m. following the collision between a Vauxhall Vivaro van and a Lexus RX.

One patient, a man in his late 20s, has been taken to the major trauma unit at Royal Preston Hospital with chest injuries.One person was also treated for an arm injury, while another was treated for shock. One patient was taken to Royal Preston while the other was taken to Blackpool hospital.

Police have confirmed that a 36-year-old woman was arrested on suspicion of drink driving.

A spokesperson for Lancashire Road Police said: ‘This was the scene at Esprick this morning, thanks to the majority of you for your patience. Lucky escapes, three to hospital, one to custody.”

A Lancashire Police spokesperson provided this information: ‘Police were called at 6.45 a.m. to a report of a collision between a Vauxhall Vivaro van and a Lexus RX. Three people were taken to hospital but thankfully there were no serious injuries. A 36 year old woman was arrested on suspicion of drink driving. Enquiries are ongoing. The road was reopened at about 9.20am. Log number 0170 of today’s date for any witnesses.’

A spokesperson for North West Ambulance Service said: ‘We were called at 6.50am and attended with two ambulances and a rapid response vehicle. We treated three patients, one for an arm injury, one for chest injuries and one for shock. A male in his late twenties with chest injuries was taken to the major trauma unit at Royal Preston Hospital. Two patients were taken to Royal Preston Hospital and one was taken to Blackpool Hospital.’

Fleetwood Road has since reopened and delays cleared.
