Lytham’s HM Coastguard Team were once again paged at 9.25 p.m. yesterday evening (Thursday 11th January) along with HM Coastguard Fleetwood and Blackpool’s RNLI to reports of concern for a person in the Blackpool Central Pier area. They located a casualty in the water at Central Pier, who was rescued by Blackpool RNLI. The casualty was handed over to NW Ambulance.
However, this casualty turned out to be a different person to the one the Lytham HM Coastguard Coastal Rescue Team (CRT) were originally tasked to find. Consequently, the CRT volunteers continued to search for the original casualty. Eventually, all teams were stood down and returned home safely. The original call out related to someone who was missing from home, but he has been found.
