The View – Takeaway Fish and Chips

Restaurant review from The View, St Anne’s Promenade.

Just days after opening the newest fish and chip shop in St Anne’s, Lytham St Anne’s News page decided to ‘check out the chippy’ after many positive comments on our page, from last Friday nights post reporting it.

It was a beautiful sunny spring evening (Thursday) when we visited The View. Externally, it’s nautical themed cladding and portholes and full glass windows looked like a swanky Mediterranean seafront bar, and the sloped access for prams and wheelchairs made it very easy to approach the main front door.
In the foyer there was a menu on a lecturn, hand sanitiser and clear instructions regarding covid compliance, and tables/chairs were nearly stacked as it’s currently takeaway only. The menu is comprised of all the classic chip shop favorites, plus jacket potatoes with a selection of fillings for the slightly more health conscious! High quality coffee and ice cream is also available, along with an impressive array of soft drinks.

We chose cod & chips, with a side order of mushy peas, and a cheese & onion pie, chips and gravy.
All food is sourced locally, and cooked fresh on demand, and there’s plenty of space for socially distanced waiting whilst your order is freshly prepared.
The interior design is sleek and chic, fantastic light fittings, and installed to very high standard, only upstaged by the spectacular panoramic view that the full sized windows offer for your appreciation.

The interior seating area will accept 44 covers, with extra seating upon the veranda, and upon the forecourt at the front of the venue (when on site seating is permitted).

Our food then arrived from the kitchen, salt and vinegar was applied as requested, and it was elegantly packaged, with complimentary sealed cutlery and napkin.
After a short walk back the car, a quick drive home, we were impressed so far, and excited to sample the food. It was still piping hot, and beautifully presented, with peas and gravy in tubs.

It was honestly delicious!! The batter on the fish was exactly as described, light and super crispy, chips were perfectly cooked, not at all greasy, and proper mushy peas. The cheese & onion pie was very tasty, and we thoroughly enjoyed it.

We would definitely recommend the food, friendly service and covid secure organisation, and if you are enjoying a visit to St Anne’s promenade, it’s well worth popping in for a coffee, or indeed a cheeky chippy tea.
The View is currently open 9 am til 7 pm, 7 days a week, this may extend later on in the season.
