Today, Lytham Town were matched up against St Helens in the Lancashire Shield.
It was a less than ideal start when St Annes scored the opener on the 6th minute.
Another goal on the 20th and 34th minute saw Lytham face a 3-0 deficit. However, a glimmer of hope appeared when Lytham pulled one back before half-time.
In the first minute of the second half, the visitors had added another goal to their tally, making it 4-1.
Despite facing great adversity, Lytham Town fought back, capitalising on the opposition’s defence, to level the game to 4-4.
Ultimately, it was penalties that were required to settle the match which saw St Helens declared the victor.
