Following yesterday’s (Saturday 30th May) protest and counter protest demonstrations in Blackpool a 42-year-old man from the town has been arrested on suspicion of police assault. A 18-year-old man from Blackpool and an a 32-year-old man from Blackpool were also arrested under Section 5 of the Public Order Act – causing harassment/alarm/distress.
A spokesperson for Blackpool Police said, ‘The majority of those in attendance exercised their right to protest in a lawful manner.’
The spokesperson added, ‘We would like to thank the residents and business owners of Blackpool for their patience and understanding throughout the day.’
