Blackpool’s famous Promenade has gained a brand-new attraction today (Friday 29th May)— and it’s guaranteed to leave visitors feeling a little dizzy.
The UK’s biggest-ever Upside Down House officially opens its doors on Friday, bringing a topsy-turvy experience to South Shore that quite literally flips the world on its head.
Located near South Pier, the striking sky-blue building already stands out against the seafront skyline — but it’s what’s inside that promises the real surprises.
Visitors will step into a surreal world where ceilings become floors, furniture hangs overhead and nothing is quite where it should be. The attraction features 13 themed rooms designed to entertain families, tourists and selfie-seekers alike.
Among the highlights are a circus-inspired playroom, a quirky teen bedroom, an interactive games room, a cosy BookTok-style reading nook and even a bold leopard-print master bedroom. The attraction’s creators say every room has been carefully designed to confuse, amuse and create unforgettable photo opportunities.
The Blackpool venue is the largest Upside Down House created in the UK so far — and company bosses say it is unlike anything else in the world.
Alex Barbary, Associate Director at Upside Down House UK, said: “We’re going bigger and better than ever. This is our largest Upside Down House to date, and the first of its kind anywhere in the world. Blackpool Promenade is the perfect stage — a place built on entertainment, culture and experience. We can’t wait to welcome the public inside.”
The attraction is expected to become one of Blackpool’s newest visitor hotspots this summer, with tickets already proving popular online.
Kate Shane MBE, Managing Director of Blackpool Tourism Ltd, said the attraction was already creating “a real buzz” around the town. She added: “It promises to be a fantastic addition to our visitor offer and another great reason to visit Blackpool.”
Blackpool Council says the development is also part of wider plans to bring more visitors, jobs and investment to the South Shore area.
