Blackpool Police Launch Murder Investigation After Death Of Woman

Blackpool Police have launched a murder investigation after the death of a woman in Redcar Road in the town.

Police were called by North West Ambulance Service to Redcar Road, Blackpool at 10:56 a.m.  on Thursday 21st September to a report of an unexpected death.

When officers attended, they sadly found a woman in her 50s deceased. The woman has now been identified as Alison Dodds.

A post mortem has revealed that she suffered multiple injuries and her death is now being treated as suspicious. Police are consequently asking for help with their enquiries.

Detective Chief Inspector Jane Webb of Lancashire Police’s Force Major Investigation Team, said: ‘First and foremost, my thoughts are with Alison’s family and loved ones at this difficult time. This is a tragic case, but our investigation team are determined to find out the full circumstances surrounding her death.

We’d ask that anyone who may have information that could be useful to the investigation, please contact us as soon as possible.”

We appreciate that this incident will have caused concern in the community and so I would like to reassure people that we have stepped up patrols in the area, and you can expect to see a visible police presence for some time. If you have any concerns or information, please approach an officer.’

If you witnessed anything or captured footage of anything suspicious on Redcar Road between 11pm September 20 and 10:45am on September 21, Police are  particularly keen to speak to you.

A later update today (24th September) from Blackpool Police says: ‘Today, detectives have arrested a 35-year-old man from Blackpool on suspicion of murder.’
