Brutal Murderer Who Escaped From HMP Kirkham Captured

A convicted brutal murderer has been jailed once again after escaping from HMP Kirkham in December. He was eventually found hiding in a bed and breakfast in Irving, Scotland.

Paul Gerrard, now aged 40, was sentenced to life in prison in 2009 for the brutal murder of David Argent in Runcorn. Gerrard lured Mr Argent to a flat in Castlefields, Runcorn in July 2008 and beat him unconscious. Friends had warned Mr Argent not to go to the flat, but once there he was brutally attacked as Gerrard savagely beat him to the ground and stamped on his head. Mr Argent, who had endured a campaign of intimidation in the time leading up to the vicious attack, lost consciousness and was rushed to hospital where he remained in a coma for eight months until his death.

Following his escape from Kirkham and capture, Gerrard was arrested by the Police and taken back to prison. He has been charged with escaping from lawful custody and sentenced to an additional 14 months in prison
