Callout At 2.30 a.m. Today (11.01.24) For Lytham’s HM Coastguard Volunteers

It has been a very busy start of 2024 for the volunteers from HM Coastguard Lytham. The Lytham Coastal Rescue Team (CRT) were paged in the darkness of 02.30 a.m. today (11th January) along with HM Coastguard Fleetwood to reports of a person requesting help near Central Pier (featured photograph and concluding photograph below).

The team were able to quickly locate the person with assistance and guidance from MRCC Holyhead, before handing over the person to the care of Lancashire Ambulance Service.

The photograph below depicts a Team training session held on Wednesday evening (10th January) during which the HM Coastguard volunteers practiced the use of their mud rescue kit. This session centred on further preparing and equipping the HM Coastguard mud rescue technicians to go out and conduct a rescue. This included practicing donning the required PPE, kitting out the rescue sled with the equipment needed in order to extract a casualty and methods of recovery and clean down.

Lytham St. Anne’s News expresses its sincere gratitude to these dedicated volunteers for their life saving work.
