Former AKS student lands major role in ITV soap’s shocking murder storyline
A talented former AKS Lytham student has swapped the classroom for the cobbles after landing a starring role in one of Coronation Street’s biggest murder mysteries.
Anya Dewin, who only left AKS this summer after finishing Year 13, has already hit the big time by joining the cast of the hit ITV soap.
The young actress has been thrown straight into the deep end, playing Lucy Parkinson, the daughter of Tim Metcalfe’s cousin Richie, who finds himself accused of murdering his wife.
With her father arrested and her world turned upside down, Lucy is taken in by Tim and Sally – placing Anya right at the heart of one of Corrie’s most dramatic storylines. Viewers can expect to see plenty of the talented newcomer as the gripping plot unfolds.
Everyone at AKS has been celebrating Anya’s incredible achievement.
A school spokesperson said: “Huge congratulations from everyone at AKS to Anya D (Class of 2026), who finished Year 13 this summer and has already taken an exciting step in her professional acting career by joining the cast of Coronation Street as Lucy Parkinson.
“A wonderfully talented actress, this is a thoroughly well-deserved role for Anya, and we are incredibly proud to see her talent recognised as she begins this exciting next chapter.
“Congratulations, Anya. We can’t wait to see you on screen and to follow where your talent takes you next.”
Anya admitted she is still pinching herself after landing the dream role. She said: “I still can’t quite believe I get to say this, but I’m so grateful to be joining the cast of Coronation Street.
“This has been such a blessing, working alongside the most beautiful people, and getting to live out a dream I’ve had for so long. Some dreams really do come true, don’t they?”
It’s an amazing start to what promises to be an exciting acting career – and one the whole of Lytham St Anne’s will be watching with pride.
