Following the two recent instances, reported by Lytham St. Anne’s News, of people needing to be rescued from sinking sands Fylde Council have issued this warning.

⚠ Beware of sinking sands ⚠  ‘In the last week there have been 2 instances of people needing to be rescued from sinking sands on our beaches. They occur mainly around the mud flat areas, and happen when the sand becomes ‘inundated ‘ with water following high tides.

Please be extra vigilant when walking on the beach especially around the grassed areas, check the tide times, and always carry your phone so you can contact the coastguard on 999 if you find yourself in difficulty.’
