Lytham Coastguard Attend Non-Urgent Call To Porpoise on Beach

Part of the remit of His Majesty’s Coastguard is to attend to deceased or stranded ‘Royal Fish’ (Porpoise, Dolphins, Whales and Sturgeons). The volunteers take measurements (see photographs below) and send the information on to the Natural History Museum in London. Lytham’s HMCG Team were paged today (Friday 19th January) with a non-urgent request to attend a dead porpoise on the beach.  HM Coastguard Fleetwood were also in attendance.

To report a dead Dolphin or Porpoise please call 01407 762051.
