A Lytham St Annes Care Home opened its doors to the community in the form of a Summer Fayre and successfully raised more than £800 (featured photograph).

Rated as outstanding by the CQC, MHA Starr Hills Care Home, which is located at 18 Ansdell Road South in Ansdell, held their Summer Fayre which was very well attended as more than 100 people came.

There were plenty of things to keep guests entertained, including cake, art and clothes stalls as well as the usual tombola and raffle.

The total amount raised was £830, which will go towards the home’s amenities fund from which activities and trips will be arranged.

Emma Falkingham, activity coordinator at Starr Hills (photographed below) said: ‘The summer fayre was very successful and a day we will never forget. There was something for everyone, the wet sponge throwing was very popular as was the bouncy castle amongst the children.

We received some great support from the community as well as the residents’ families and our colleagues. It was very intergenerational and seeing the connections and conversations between young and old was heart-warming.

It was a real all-round effort, and we are overwhelmed with the support. The residents had a great time; they shared some great feedback and were smiling throughout the day.

We want to thank everyone for the support in ensuring we had a very successful day and can’t wait for the next fayre in Christmas.’
