Saturday 5th August  is a special day at the Ansdell Co-op Food Store.  If you pop in to shop between 10 a.m. – 4 p.m. you will meet Maurice.  Maurice, now a young man, is pictured here in his cub uniform and he is currently raising funds for The Edward Dee Fund.  Over the day Maurice will be joined by members of the 8th Lytham Scout Group..

Here is why this very special cause matters so much to Maurice:

‘I’m raising money for the Edward Dee Charity.  Edward and I were enthusiastic members of the 8th Lytham Cub Scout Group.  We met every week at the hut and enjoyed the boisterous camaraderie.   I was a keen runner, and so was he.  We were the fastest in the group, which says much about Edward as he was 10 and I was 12.  He was also a first-rate swimmer and had entered several triathlons.  He was a fit and healthy lad.  We were looking forward to Christmas in December 2016 when Edward suddenly fell ill and lost his life to meningitis and sepsis.  In August I am climbing Mount Kilimanjaro and will be leaving a stone at the summit, StonesforEdward If you can bring any change to support this wonderful cause. it would be really appreciated.’
