BLACKPOOL POLICE APPEAL FOR WITNESSES

The crash involved a possibly white car and a pedestrian sustained injuries. From Blackpool Police 👇

We are appealing for witnesses or anybody with dashcam footage to get in touch following a fail-to-stop collision.

The incident occurred at around 12noon yesterday (Wednesday April 28th), on Watson Road close to the junction with Sowerby Avenue when a man was struck by a car as he crossed the road.

The man, in his 50s was taken to hospital for treatment though thankfully his injuries are not believed to be life-threatening.

The car, thought to be a white Ford Fiesta ST-Line, which is thought to have damage to the front end and a smashed windscreen, failed to stop at the scene and made off in the direction of Marton Drive.

No arrests have been made but enquiries are very much ongoing into the incident and we are now asking anybody who saw it, saw the Fiesta in the moments before or after the collision, or who has dashcam footage of any part of the incident to get in touch with us as soon as possible.

Sgt Adam Crossley, of Lancashire Police, said: “This was a nasty collision which has left a man with injuries. However instead of stopping to check they were okay, the driver of the vehicle made off from the scene.”

“We would now ask anybody with information about the collision to get in touch. Perhaps you saw it or saw the Fiesta in the moments before or after it happened. Maybe you have dashcam showing the vehicle involved. Or perhaps you think you know who is involved.

“Whatever information you have we would ask you to get in touch with us as soon as possible. We would also urge the driver of the vehicle to search their conscience and come forward.

“Likewise, I would appeal directly to the driver to do the right thing and get in touch.”

Anybody with information is asked to get in touch on 101, or email 2002@lancashire.police.uk quoting log 0561 of April 28th.
