Heyhouses School Children Help Complete St Anne’s Bellringers Amazing Poppy Net

St. Anne’s Bellringers have today (Monday 16th October) thanked the Headteacher, her colleagues and the children at Heyhouses Endowed CE Primary School for their enthusiastic and skilled help to complete with the amazing St Anne’s Parish Church Poppy Net (see below).

This will now enable the 10,000 lovely handmade poppies to brilliantly cascade down the historic St Anne’s Parish Church on Remembrance Day (11th  November). The impressive project by St Anne’s Bellringers has, over the last few months, enjoyed wonderful support from many local individuals and community businesses such as Bonney Fabrics & Wool. The amazing, poignant display is certainly a demonstration of how well local people work together.

The Bellringers are planning an official Opening Ceremony for the poppy cascade. This will be held at 2.30 p.m. on Sunday, 29th October. The cascade will then stay in place until Remembrance Sunday.

The Bellringers said, ‘Huge thanks to Mrs Hodgson for allowing us to bring the poppy net to Heyhouses School this afternoon.  Thank you to all the children in Y6 and Y4 and the school staff who all worked together to help us finish the net!  We have no poppies left to attach! We could also lay it out fully in the school hall and see the whole thing for the first time. I hope you agree it looks amazing.  Thank you to everyone who has helped with this project in any way.’
