HM Coastguard Lytham Called To Assist With Complex North Pier Rescue

A ‘complex’ operation was launched during yesterday evening (Tuesday 10th October) following reports of a person ‘entering the water’ off Blackpool’s North Pier. HM Coastguard Fleetwood said their team were called to assist police on the scene with both rescue vehicles and colleagues from Blackpool and Lytham in attendance. North West Ambulance service were also called the scene to assist.

A Spokesperson for HM Coastguard Fleetwood said that the rescue teams were called to North Pier with reports of a person entering the water. They attended to assist the police on scene, together with rescue vehicles and colleagues from Lytham and Blackpool. The spokesperson continued, ‘This was a complex tasking, a casualty was recovered from the water, immediate care was given and the casualty was then handed over to the care of the arriving paramedics. Great multi agency working and all teams returned home safely. ‘
