Temporary Traffic Lights Cause Delays On Common Edge Road

Blackpool Council has warned motorists that there will be delays on Common Edge Road today (Thursday 12th October) and tomorrow (Friday 13th October) as highway works continue.

The Council says, ‘There are some highways works taking place on Common Edge Road on Thursday and Friday of this week, which unfortunately will result in some minor disruption to the traffic. We have asked our contractors to avoid carrying out the work during rush hours and school pick up times to reduce the impact on traffic as much as possible. We are also attempting the share this information via social media and online to reach residents, business and commuters but please do also feel free to share as relevant.

Once we approach the next stage of the highways project as detailed below, then we will keep you all informed well ahead of works starting and will look to hold another information session with affected residents and businesses.

Temporary traffic lights will be needed to safely conduct drainage surveys on Thursday 12th and Friday 13th October. This will involve:

  • Four way temporary traffic lights at the junction of School Road and Common Edge Road on Thursday 12 October.
  • Two way temporary traffic lights at Common Edge Road opposite Lytham St Annes garden centre on Friday 13 October.

To reduce the impact on traffic, these works will be completed outside of rush hours on the road – between 9.30am and 2.30pm.

We apologise for any inconvenience, but have tried to keep this to a minimum where possible.

The drainage surveys will help confirm the design for the new road connecting to the Enterprise Zone, and the Enterprise Zone will update residents and businesses on the progress later this year.’
