Police Name Man Charged With Murder Of Daniel Allsop In Blackpool

At around 4.30 p.m. last Monday (2nd October) 38-year-old Daniel Allsop (pictured) was assaulted on Bethesda Road in Blackpool. A short time later he collapsed in McDonalds on Bank Hey Road and was taken to hospital. Daniel sadly died as a result of his injuries on Wednesday evening (4th October).  A Home Office postmortem examination established that the cause of Daniel’s death was blunt force trauma. Yesterday evening (Sunday 8th October), following consultation with the Crown Prosecution Service, Mali Wright, 29, of no fixed address was charged with Daniel’s murder. He was remanded into custody to appear at Blackpool Magistrates Court this morning (Monday 9th October).

In a tribute, Daniel’s family said: ‘On October 4, 2023, we lost a son, dad, brother, grandson, uncle, nephew and cousin. He passed peacefully surrounded by his immediate family. He will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved him.’

A Police spokesperson says, ‘Daniel’s family are aware of the development and continue to be supported by specially trained officers.

We are continuing to appeal for witnesses and are particularly keen to hear from anybody who saw a disturbance or anything suspicious on Bethesda Road at around 4.30 p.m. on Monday. We would also ask people to check their dashcam, doorbell, CCTV and any mobile phone footage from the area to see if they have captured anything which could help our inquiry.
