Kirkham’s streets will be filled by the smell of rebellion when Rainbow Dance & Theatre School presents Roald Dahl’s Matilda The Musical JR. Based on the beloved book “Matilda” by Roald Dahl and adapted from the award-winning full-length musical, Roald Dahl’s Matilda The Musical JR. tells the story of an extraordinary girl who, armed with a vivid imagination and a sharp mind, dares to take a stand and change her own destiny.
Roald Dahl’s Matilda The Musical JR. is being performed by the cast from Rainbow Dance & Theatre School on Saturday 15th July at 4pm & 7:30pm and Sunday 16th July at 12pm & 4pm at Kirkham Grammar School. Matilda, a little girl with astonishing wit, intelligence and psychokinetic powers, lives with cruel parents who find her to be a nuisance, a lousy little worm, and a bore. When Matilda enters her first term at school, she captures the attention of Miss Honey, a kind teacher, and the two form a wonderful friendship. Unfortunately, the school is ruled by a tempestuous and mean headmistress named Miss Trunchbull, who hates children and delivers cruel and unjust punishments to all her charges. Matilda is determined to change her story, but will her cleverness and courage be enough to withstand the reign of Miss Trunchbull?
Rainbow Dance & Theatre School are well known for their musical theatre shows and have produced over 100 spectacular productions over the last 40 years. With studios based at Lytham Trade Park in Lytham, RDATS has acquired a reputation for all round excellence. This year Rainbow Dance and Theatre School will be raising money at each performance through our charity raffle for Cancer Research UK for Children and Young People following the unexpected passing of one of our dance mums, Angela Davies, who died shortly after being diagnosed with an aggressive form of Thyroid cancer earlier this year. This wonderful charity is Angela’s charity of choice and holds a special place in her family’s heart.
