St Anne’s Man Named & Bailed Following Serious Christmas Day Collision

Police were called to the junction of Common Edge Road and Willow Brooke Court at 10.27 p.m. on Christmas Day following reports a Mercedes CLA 220 had left the carriageway and collided with a wall. The Mercedes had been travelling from St Anne’s.

As a result of the collision, three boys – aged 13, 15 and 17 – a 17-year-old girl and a woman in her 30s suffered multiple serious injuries and were all taken to hospital. Police reported that their injuries were not thought to be life-threatening.

Kevin Thompson, 42, of Clifton Drive North, St Anne’s, was charged with failing to co-operate with a preliminary test and failing to provide specimens for analysis. He was remanded into custody and appeared before magistrates this morning (Wednesday 27th December). He has been bailed in relation to the causing serious injury by dangerous driving and driving with excess alcohol matters while Police enquiries continue.

Sgt Paul McCurrie, from the Road Policing Unit, issued this appeal following the collision: ‘This collision has left a number of people with some very serious injuries. Thankfully, those injuries don’t appear to be life-threatening at this time. Our enquiries to establish the full circumstances of what led to the collision are ongoing. I would ask any witnesses or anybody with any CCTV, dashcam or doorbell footage which would help our investigation to contact the police as soon as possible.’
