Lytham and dogs go together like eggs and bacon so when my mum and I set up our cafe Bijou of Lytham almost 3 years ago, making it dog friendly was a no brainer.
Dog’s and food are two of my favourite things so to be able to combine them both as my career and family business it has been a dream come true. Don’t get me wrong, it’s very hard work but for every amazing review, regular customer and wagging tail it’s all worth it.
2020 has not been much fun with having to close our business for months but we have received the fantastic news that Bijou has been entered in the Dog Friendly awards as The Best Dog Friendly Cafe in the whole UK and I cannot tell you just how much it means to us. We have been advised we are only a few votes off being a finalist so have everything crossed that this could be our year so watch this space.
It’s not all about the dogs (I promise) but every dog deserves to be spoilt, why have one if not! Dogs at Bijou have their very own menu, we make them Pawpupchinos, serve them only the very best sausages from Honeywell’s meats and feature Woofins from The Barking Bakery. Many dogs come to us to celebrate their birthdays and before lock down we hosted a number of Doggie Pawtys including a Halloween themed one…. I’m often called a crazy dog lady, I can’t think why. I’ve even created a Bijou Doggie calender for 2021 featuring our doggie customers, you can order one for £15.99 with a donation going to a local dog charity.
For their humans we take our food seriously and cook everything fresh to order using only the best local ingredients, including a wide choice of Gluten Free, Veggie and Vegan options. All cakes are homemade by myself which are perfect with a Lytham Coffee Co coffee.
We could not do any of this without the support of our customers so thank you to each and everyone of you… Your vote may just help us put Lytham and Bijou on the map.
