A convicted child rapist who the public were warned presented a real risk to children and women has been arrested today (Monday 2nd October). The manhunt for the sex offender with links to Blackpool began when Stephen Pennington, 35, failed to comply with his licence conditions.
Pennington had been jailed in 2009 for the rape of a child. He was jailed again in 2022 for breaches of a sexual harm prevention order and notification requirements.
A Police spokesperson said, ‘Lancashire Police made an appeal over the weekend asking for the public’s help to find a wanted man called Stephen Pennington.
We are pleased to say that Pennington has been arrested this morning (Monday, Oct 2) and he will now be recalled to prison.
We would like to thank everyone who has come forward with information over the last couple of days. Your extra eyes and ears really can make a massive difference to the work we do to keep you and your communities safe.’
